About Matt: Freelance Writer and Principal of Logolepsy
I always knew I'd be a writer. My first grade teacher predicted it. So did my mother. Sure, there were moments when I wanted to be an architect, or a lawyer, or a professional tight-rope walker — for a while, I even wanted to be a vampire — but inevitably, I always returned to words.
And it's words with which I've made my living. I moved from Denver to Chicago in 2000 and it's in the Windy City that I've built my career as a writer, editor and journalist extraordinaire.
A Renaissance man, I specialize in feature writing for consumer and business publications. I have a special fondness, however, for advocacy journalism, food writing and travel writing. I have written for dozens of publications, including national and regional magazines, trade journals, newsletters and Webzines, and worked on scores of corporate writing projects, including marketing campaigns, press releases, books and blogs. And I've just gotten started.
I have a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and I am currently finishing a masters degree in creative writing, with a focus on creative nonfiction, from Northwestern's Graduate School.
Where will you find me next? Your guess is as good as mine. Let's see where my byline takes me.
